Jerome V. Harlan SUMMERVILLE - Jerome V. Harlan, 79, of Summerville, husband of Marie T. Harlan for thirty four years, passed away at his residence on Saturday, November 3, 2012. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Wednesday evening, November 7, 2012 from 6 to 8 o'clock at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at 9 o'clock St. John the Beloved Catholic Church, 28 Sumter Avenue, Summerville. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memory Gardens, 11000 Dorchester Road, Summerville. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Boys Town National Headquarters, 200 Flanagan Blvd., PO Box 8000, Boys Town, NE 68010 or American Heart Association, 409 King Street, Ste. 300, Charleston, SC 29403 or to a charity of one's choice. Mr. Harlan was born March 15, 1933 in Akron, Ohio, son of the late Robert Harlan and Mary Powers Harlan. He served in the United States Navy and retired from Sears Roebuck after thirty plus years. He was a devout Christian, always ready to help those in need. Mr. Harlan was a history buff and loved anything wildlife. He enjoyed watching National Geographic, Animal Kingdom and any shows in regards to wildlife. He and Mrs. Harlan were former members of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Stow, Ohio and currently are members of St. John the Beloved Catholic Church, Summerville. Survivors, including his wife, are one daughter and four sons; Timothy Harlan (Vicki) of Summerville, Cindy Edwards (Don) of Reevesville, SC, Perry Harlan (Sherry) of Palmetto, FL, Brian Harlan of Fairbanks, Alaska and David Harlan (Haley) of Summerville, seven grandchildren; Travis Harlan, Jillian Harlan, Andrew Harlan, Melanie, Shane and Aaron and Jacob Harlan; one brother; William Harlan (Pat) and numerous nieces and nephews.
