Jennifer Camero Obituary

Jennifer (Pelic) Camero CARBONDALE, IL - Jennifer (Pelic) Camero, 38 of Carbondale, Illinois passed away on March 14 2016 surrounded by her husband and family. Professor Camero is survived by her husband, Mark Camero. She also leaves her parents, Nancy and George Pelic; brother and sister-in-law, Christopher and Christine Pelic, and nephews and niece Justin, Jacob, and Jennifer Pelic of Mt Pleasant, South Carolina. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Alice Nielsen, brother-in-law Blake Nielsen, as well as nieces Jessica and Erica Nielsen all of Chicago, Illinois. In addition, she leaves behind nephew Albert Gonzalez and his wife Poeta. She was preceded in death by her older sister Jill Pelic. Professor Camero was born in Youngstown, Ohio on August 19th, 1977 and grew up in Poland, OH. She attended Holy Family grade school and Cardinal Mooney High School. Professor Camero earned a B.B.A. from Saint Mary's College, where she graduated summa cum laude. She obtained her CPA in 1999 and practiced as a tax consultant for a few years. Professor Camero earned her J.D. from Northwestern University. Upon graduation, she worked as an attorney in commercial finance prior to focusing on an academic career. Prior to joining Southern Illinois University School of Law, Professor Camero was a teaching fellow at LSU. She became a tenured professor in 2016 at SIU School of Law. Professor Camero was a beloved teacher and recognized for her teaching accomplishments. For her academic accomplishments Professor Camero received a prestigious award for outstanding teaching, scholarship, and service given out by SIU in 2016. Jennifer and Mark were wed in Chicago, Illinois on September 3rd, 2005. She and her husband Mark were avid travelers. Jennifer was a fantastic cook, gardener, and loved movies and reading. So saddened by this news. Professor Camero was my legal writing professor in 1L at LSU. She was so open and approachable, even to students like myself that didn't talk to too many of the profs. She truly cared about each one of her students and their potential. She was always smiling ... always positive. RIP :(
