Jennie Grant Obituary

Jennie Grant ANDREWS, SC - Miss Jennie Parker Grant, 93, the daughter of George Banks "Banks" Grant, Sr. and Mary Edith Hyrne Grant, passed away Monday morning, February 18, 2013 in Georgetown Memorial Hospital. "Miss Jennie" was born on January 4, 1920 in Andrews. She was a graduate of Andrews High School and the last survivor of AHS Class of 1938. After several administrative jobs in Charleston, Miss Grant returned to her beloved Andrews and eventually retired from the Personnel Department of Georgetown "Kraft" Paper Mill. She will be best remembered as a witty trickster and supporter of her beloved church - Andrews Presbyterian Church. She was a philanthropist of her time and support to the elderly widows and shut-ins of Andrews. Miss Grant was believed to be the eldest Andrews native still living in Andrews at the time of her passing. While Miss Grant neither married nor had children, she considered her nieces and nephews to be "her children". She leaves behind: Sandra Noonan Fowler, Betty Jean "Jean" Perkins Tyner, LTC (Ret) George Randall "Randy" (Suzanne) Grant; William Joseph "Billy" Perkins, Pam Grant (Pete) Lesesne, and Deborah Parker "Debbie" (Larry) G. Barwick. Their children were also beloved of Jennie. She was predeceased by: her parents; a brother, George Banks "G.B." Grant Jr.; a sister, Fannie Mae Grant Perkins; and a nephew-in-law, Troy Tyner. Graveside Service will be 11 AM, Thursday, February 21, 2013 in the Andrews Memorial Cemetery directed by the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6-8 PM, Wednesday evening, February 20, 2013 in Fellowship Hall of the Andrews Presbyterian Church. Memorials may be made to Andrews Presbyterian Church, 107 S. Randy, Pam and Debbie,
We only knew Jennie for a short while, but she welcomed us as friends from the start. We are sorry for the loss of our new friend, but we know that she was ready to be with the Lord. She loved you all very much. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We know you will miss her as will we.

Jennie Grant, Nathan Herring and Virginia Herring vonLehe, 3 great friends, are all reunited now in heaven and having a grand time we are sure!

The Herring family loved Jennie and loved the many pranks she pulled on us as children! We all loved visiting with her in Andrews in these last few years. We will miss her and we loved her very much!
