Jay Rock Obituary

Jay Richard Rock
June 30, 1960 – January 9, 2025
Jay Richard Rock, age 64, passed away on January 9, 2025 after a long battle with Alzheimers. Born on June 30, 1960, in Anoka, Minnesota, Jay spent his youth in his hometown before embarking on a life full of love, hard work, and adventure.
At a young age, Jay met the love of his life, Sandy, who would become his devoted wife of 43 years. Together, they built a beautiful life, raising their two children, Tanya and Justin, in Dassel, Minnesota. Jay's dedication to his family was evident in every aspect of his life, particularly in the construction of their stunning lake home. Built by his own hands, it was not only a home but a testament to his skill, perseverance, and love for his family. Whether coaching Tanya's gymnastics team, starting the family business of Shoreline Realty, or spending hours and hours on the lake boating, he brought dedication and joy to everything he did.Their home also became a haven for a hobby farm, complete with ducks, pheasants, horses, and many family dogs. Jay's deep love for animals was matched only by his passion for the outdoors.
An avid hunter and fisherman, Jay's happiest moments often involved being outside in nature. Jay's adventurous spirit led him and Sandy to Ely, Minnesota, after their children were grown. There, they fulfilled another dream by renovating a home on a picturesque lake, creating yet another sanctuary to enjoy life's beauty.
Jay's passions extended beyond hunting and fishing to all activities on the water and spending time with friends and family. He was a talented water skier which was passed onto his children. He loved boating, and traveling to oceans and beaches, always chasing the sun and its warmth. His adventurous and warm-hearted nature and slapstick sense of humor left a mark on all who knew him.
Jay is survived by his loving wife Sandy; his daughter Tanya and her spouse Anson, along with their two children, Ryder and Roxy; his son Justin and his wife Laura, along with their two children, Sienna and Jameson; his brother Lee (Mary), sister Raenay (Grant) Hendrickson, sister Stacy Kamber, brother-in-law Randy, sister-in-law Michelle (Dave) Langefels, sister-in-law Pam Dahlheimer, sister-in-law Jennifer (Chuck) Goede and many nieces, nephews, and family and friends. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
Jay was preceded in death by his mother Liane, father Bill, brother Jeff, sister-in-law Cari, brother-in-law Steve, mother-in-law Janet, father-in-law John, brother-in-law Todd, and sister-in-law Tambra.
A celebration of Jay's life will be held Thursday (1/16/2025) at 11:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church 1601 4th Ave. S., Anoka. Visitation one hour prior to service. Private burial will be at St. John-Baptist Catholic Church in Dayton.

Jay was my best friend when I moved from Florida to Minnesota in my early teens. If someone wanted to know where I was, they would say he's with Jay !.. We were like Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn. We would raid his Mom's kitchen of food, jump on the pontoon boat and spend the weekends at King's Island on the Mississippi River. So much to think about on this day. I will never forget you my friend, my brother. Thank you Jay for sharing your life with me, I will miss you.
