Jay Paul Frickman Charleston - Jay Paul Frickman, 57, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Susan Sewell Frickman entered into eternal rest Thursday, May 10, 2018. His Funeral Service will be held Monday, May 14, 2018 in St. Philip's Church, 142 Church Street at 3:30 p.m. The family will receive friends in the church Parish Hall immediately following the service. For those able to join, a Celebration of Life will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Charleston Rifle Club, 2221 Heriot Street. Interment will be private. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. DOWNTOWN CHAPEL. Jay was born July 19, 1960 in Fort Thomas, Kentucky, son of the late Don Hughes Frickman and the late Jane Kahle Frickman. He was a graduate of the University of Kentucky where he was a member of Phi Kappa Tau fraternity. Jay later went on to earn his Master's degree in Business Administration from Charleston Southern University. He was a Sales Executive with AT&T. When Jay met Susan, Lindsay and Cameron in 1994, he fell in love. He married Susan in 1995 and always boasted about how blessed he was to find the perfect, "ready-made" family. They proudly welcomed Harrison in 1997. Jay was a devoted and loving husband and father who has been so proud of the accomplishments of all three children. Jay loved the ocean, sunsets, and daily prayer at the Battery. He was an accomplished hobby screenwriter, having written several award-winning screenplays. He recently enlisted the help of two dear friends in exploring his interest in writing historical fiction. Jay was a member of St. Philip's Church and his faith and church family provided him with great strength and comfort during his battle with cancer. He had a gift for making friends, many of them members of the Charleston Rifle Club, and has been described by some as "a true gentleman" and "the kindest man I have ever known." He will truly be missed by all. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Susan; two daughters: Lindsay F. Johnson (Heath) and Cameron F. Elliott (Chase Austin), and a son, Harrison Hughes Frickman, all of Charleston, SC; sister, Janet F. Rosing (Robert) of Cincinnati, OH; and two brothers: Thomas K. Frickman (Gail) and Don Randall Frickman (Kim), both of Taylor Mill, K. He treasured his relationships with his siblings and loved his nieces and nephews dearly. There were miles between them, but he talked with family daily. Over the two and a half years of Jay's illness, following Harrison and his teammates of the Tufts University Baseball Program has been a source of great comfort and joy for him. In three brief years many valuable friendships were forged. The Tufts family has been an amazing support system for the family throughout Jay's illness. In lieu of flowers, Jay has requested that memorials be made to the Tufts Baseball Facility Building Project. Jay was Davis' t- ball coach. I often ran into him at the grocery store over the years and we would swap updates on our families. He was always such a bright spot in my day, so proud of his family and so sweet. I have prayed for your family since he told me of his illness. I am so sorry for your loss.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you. I would like to leave a memory that has stuck with me. It was probably my senior year at the University of South Carolina and I happened to be staying the weekend at Seabrook with Grandaddy and Grandma Sewell. One evening I met up with Harvey at the restaurant at Bohicket for a beer. Jay popped in as well. He was showing off the engagement ring to us. I remember how much he expressed his love for you Susie. It was nice to be a part of that and I will always remember how nice of a person he was to me and others.
