James Wise Obituary

James Julian Wise III CHARLESTON - James Julian Wise III, 78, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Janice T. Thornton Wise, entered into eternal rest Sunday, April 13, 2025. His Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, April 23, 2025 in the Christ - St. Paul's Churchyard, 4981 Chapel Road at 2:00 pm. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., West Ashley Chapel. James was born August 23, 1946 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late James Julian Wise, Jr. and Betty Uldean Varner Wise. James was a lifelong South Carolina Gamecock fan. He Worked for the Charleston Navy Shipyard in a supervisory position until it's closure. He then moved to Ft. Sill, Oklahoma as supervisor of public works and became an Oklahoma Sooners fan. He then returned to Mt. Pleasant, SC, where he also worked in management at the local Lowe's store. He wasn't ready to sit around yet. He was a man of faith, and was a member of the Old St. Peter's Episcopal Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Tony Wise; sisters, Carol Ann Wise, Lynn (Wise) Adler, Wanda (Wise) Butler, all of Charleston, SC; brothers, Kenneth Wise (Debbie) of Wichita, KS, Ed Wise (Vicky) of Ocean Springs, MS, John Wise (Kathy), and David Wise (Wanda) of Charleston, SC.
