James Whittemore Obituary

WHITTEMORE, James Mr. James Keith Whittemore of Summerville were invited to attend his Funeral service on the morning of June 22,2006 at 11:30 am at CAROLINA MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME. Burial and committal services were held in CAROLINA MEMORIAL PARK. Family recieved friends from the hours of 9:30 am until the time of service at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home this morning. He was born in Charleston on November 13,1953 to James L. and Faye Whittington Whittemore. He was an avid golfer and started playing at Yemans Hall Country Club as a young child and worked in the Pro Shop as he was growing up. He attended Lander College on a golf scholarship for three years and graduated from Georgia Southwestern University on a scholarship as well. He was a member of the South Carolina Golf Association and the Riverland Hills Baptist church in Columbia, SC and a former member of Portside Baptist in N. Charleston. He was the owner and editor of Fore Communications Golf Magazine and was the women's Golf Coach at South Carolina State University. He is survived by his parents of Summerville, Daughters; Kathryn Whittemore of Gastonia, NC, Sarah Kennedy Graham of Charlotte, NC, Kelley Whittemore Jason Robbins of Gastonia, NC, sisters; Kay Phillips Ralph of Summerville, and Kathy Haywood of Summerville, a brother Kris Whittemore Barbara of Moncks Corner, 1 grandchild Payton Robbins of Gastonia, NC, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased in death by a brother, Kerry Wade Whittemore; grandparents; Nathan and Annie Whittemore, and George and Lucille Whittington and three uncles Wesley Whittington and Bobby and Billy Whittemore.
