James Wear Obituary

James Wear Hilton Head Island, SC - James E. Wear was welcomed into the presence of the Lord on January 17, 2021 after a lengthy battle with Coronavirus. James (Jimmy) was born on July 24, 1945 in Charleston, SC and was a current resident of Hilton Head, SC. He was the son of the late Eunice and Benjamin Wear. Jimmy (affectionately known as Big Daddy to his beloved family) is survived by his beautiful wife of fifty-five years, Jackie, two sons, Jimbo (Sherri) and Kevin (Amy) grandsons, Hunter and Logan Wear and sister, Jean (James) Fleming and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Jimmy was preceded in death by his sister, Jerri Moody and brother, Ben Wear. Jimmy had a lengthy career in law enforcement before starting a career in real estate in 1989. Jimmy had many successes, but none more important than leaving a lasting legacy of love and friendship for his family and many friends. Jimmy loved large family gatherings, football season (Cowboys) and grilling by the fire for all in attendance. He also loved woodworking, boating and was a master fisherman. A will lived life indeed for James E. Wear. Memorials made be made to The American Heart Association or the charity of one's choice. Visit our guestbook at legacy.com/obituaries/charleston

Jimmy was a wonderful person who I remember fondly. As a 12 year old he let me hang around with his “Wear’s Trenching” crew and paid me $20.00 a week! That was big to me. Every time I spoke to him it would end with him saying “I love you”. He was a special man.

Jimmy was my first boss. At age 12 he hired me for $20.00 a week with his crew at Wear´s Trenching Service. I didn´t do much work but I loved hanging around with them so he paid me. He was a wonderful person. Every time I spoke with him he would always end it with "I love you ". The world needs more like him.

Jackie, my deepest sympathy. My strongest memory of Jimmy is the enthusiastic way he lived life, without inhibition and with graciousness to all with whom he came in contact. The two of you were a beacon of love and respect during the time I knew you at Wild Dunes. He indeed was a wonderful example of "a life well lived". Blessings and sympathy, Pat McKinney ([email protected])
