We moved to Columbia when I was two & Dr. Timmons was "the best doctor on the east coast" mama said. It's a good thing b/c my ears were very bad; I still consulted with him from Charlotte when I had two ear surgeries and he was "an old man"! (never, as we know) With the families being best friends through the years I was able to cherish many precious moments with them. Staying with them in the apt. was a gift of God as it made such a deep impression in my heart & mind. He showed me what a faithful friend is, as he visited Daddy every day for the long time he was in health care & the last day came, patted his arm and asked, how you doing, buddy? So sweet. They were both incredible people with God's hand on their life. "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints"

Dear Timmons Family,
What a blessing Dr. and Mrs. Timmons were to us! They were very special people. We're going to miss our annual Christmas caroling! It was always a highlight for us to visit with them, hear stories, and eat ice cream! Dr. Timmons said that was one of the keys to living a long life - a little ice cream every evening. We were always blessed by their generosity and kindness. We feel your loss.
Love,
The Cook Family

Hello,
We have never met but I came across the obituary for Dr. Timmons while looking for another, and felt moved to write. I believe that we may be related, so I read with great interest of your father. My great aunt was Edna Hughson McKnight, who was married to Mr. John McKnight. They lived in Sumter, where I grew up. Edna was my grandmother's sister. Perhaps the names of Lois and Louis Tollefson are familiar to you, as they were relatives of the McKnight family. Uncle Johnny McKnight was also a much admired gentleman, as it sounds your father was. No doubt a family of fine people.
I grew up in Sumter, SC but now live in Minneapollis, MN.
Best wishes and sympathy,

Dr. James (as I respectfully called him) was my doctor from 18 months until I was a teenager. With Dr. David McMurray, we went through a lot of trial and error, experimental medicine. I loved both of these dear men. I am 64 years old, thanks to them, and will always remember them with love.

He always made me Smile
