James Stoots Obituary

James Worth Stoots MEGGETT, SC - James Worth Stoots, 34, of Meggett, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 16, 2025. James was born April 12, 1991 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of Leigh Henderson Stoots and the late James Gordon Stoots. James liked reading, as well as playing drums and piano. His favorite activities were playing games and singing with his daughter, whom he adored. James played tennis all of his life and was currently training for a half marathon. James is survived by his brother, Campbell Henderson Stoots; and his daughter, Eleanora Grace Stoots. He is also survived by his aunts, Jess Charters, Lea Ann McCarty, and Carolyn Henderson; uncles, Andrew Charters, Keith McCarthy, and Cam Henderson; and cousins, Wendy and Jason Ferreira, Nancy Henderson, and Conor, India, and Meredith McCarty. Besides his father, James was also preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Cam and Wyndall Henderson; and paternal grandparents, Ronald Gray Stoots and Nancy Faye Stoots. James will have a graveside burial for family, to be arranged at a further date. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel. Memorial donations may be sent to Christ St. Paul's Church at https://www.christstpauls.org. The last piece his mother played for him recently was "Give Me Jesus." He remarked "that's pretty," and she sang the words: In the morning when I rise, Give me Jesus. Give me Jesus, give me Jesus, You can have all this world, But give me Jesus! And when I come to die, Give me Jesus. Give me Jesus, give me Jesus, You can have all this world, But give me Jesus! No words can express our sorrow of his sudden passing. He will be missed so much.

Yesterday

Dearest Leigh, I have no words to convey the heartache we feel. Lauren enjoyed spending time with James during high school. He was handsome, talented (like his parents), intelligent and kind. No words can convey my sorrow at what you have endured. Just know that you and your family were so special to me. I send you light and love. Love is all that can sustain us in our grief. I love you, Bonnie

Leigh and Campbell, I am so sorry for the loss of James. I´ve always loved your family and enjoyed teaching both your sons, Leigh. Praying for all of you as you grieve.
