James Skelton Obituary

SKELTON, James Entered into eternal rest on the morning of Saturday, April 9, 2005 Maj. James O Skelton, USAF Ret, of Mt. Pleasant, SC. The relatives and friends of Maj. Skelton are invited to attend his graveside service on Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at One o'clock at Beaufort National Cemetery in Beaufort, SC. Maj. Skelton was born January 30, 1944 in Union, Mississippi, son of James Robert Skelton and Georgia Germany Skelton. He graduated from Murphy High School in Mobile, Alabama. He received a BS in Electrical Engineering from Mississippi State University and a Masters and Doctorate in Public Administration from Nova University in Florida. Maj. Skelton served his country in the United States Air Force from 1968 until 1988 when he retired. He was awarded the Meritorious Service Award, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Organizational Excellence Award, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Overseas Long Tour ribbon, Air Force Longevity Service Award with four oak leaf clusters, and the Air Force Training Ribbon. Surviving are, one son, James Berkeley Skelton of Mount Pleasant, SC; one daughter, Hannah Leticia Skelton of Mount Pleasant, SC; his mother, Georgia Skelton of Union, Mississippi, three sisters, Judi Eager of Washington, Virginia, Marilyn Smith of Elyria, Ohio, and Wanda Skelton of Union, Mississippi; and his former wife Helen Talei skelton of Mount Pleasant, SC. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to East Cooper Baptist Church, 361 Egypt Rd., Mount Pleasant, SC or to the Cathedral of St. Luke and St. Paul, 126 Coming St., Charleston, SC 29403.
