James Shuman Obituary

James Irvin Shuman, Sr. Early Branch - Mr. James Irvin Shuman, Sr. of Old Salkehatchie Road near Early Branch, died early Sunday morning at his residence. Mr. Shuman was born in Colleton County, August 12, 1927, a son of the late William Henry Shuman and Effie Long Shuman. He was a farmer, an outdoorsman and especially enjoyed duck hunting. He was ordained as a Deacon in 1954, was a member of the Yemassee Baptist Church and presently was a member of the New Life in Christ Church in Early Branch. Surviving are: His wife, Dianne Bazzle Shuman; Son, Jim Shuman of Early Branch; Daughter: Wanda Shuman Ahl and husband Gene of Walterboro; Grandchildren: James and William Kirkland, 9 great grandchildren and 6 great, great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11 A.M. Wednesday in the Chapel of Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. Allen Cook with burial in the Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 7 P.M. at the Funeral Home located at 300 Mulberry Street West in Hampton. The family suggests that those who wish may send memorials to the New Life in Christ Community Bible Church, 2340 Mount Olive Road, Early Branch, SC 29916. I have known Dianne and Irvin many years. Served on lots of committees with Irvin at Yemassee Baptist Church. Always thought of him as a true friend.My sympathy to all the family..
