I was so sad to hear this news. I know Jim from doing
several real estate transactions together. Throughout the years we got to know each other rather well.. I never told him this but I used him as a private mentor.
I love the way he did business and handled himself so I paid very close attention. Doing business with Jim was like an art. Regardless who was on the other side of the transaction, It was important to Jim to end up with the win win situation . What a remarkable man

I knew Jimmy in our elemantary years. John was the smartest, Billy was the wheeler dealer with Tommy and Robert always trying to be like their brothers, Jimmy was the thinker. With a conscience, Jimmy was a polite, caring person who was a thinker who loved life and its challeges. He was agood man at all ages. I certainly will miss him but I also know he's in a better place.

I worked with Jim at HP in Charlotte back in the late 1980s and early nineties. When I moved to Charlotte in 1988 Jim was very welcoming and generous in offering mentoring and friendship. He had a great sense of humor and made working in the HP office fun. He also was a world class sales guy and everyone I know admired his professional success.

I went to high school with Jim. He was in my class. Amazing football player, amazing friend. One of reunions he took the whole class on his yacht. He was charming, caring and had a heart of gold. Heaven has another angel. He will be missed. "I will always remember our reunion talks Jim and your kindness".

I am very sorry for your family’s loss. I knew Jim through Clint because Clint is my neighbor. I would talk to Jim every time he stopped Clint’s. We had good, meaningful conversations and he was always intentional with each conversation.

I had the good fortune to work on a number of projects with Jim at Segra. We initially bonded over both being James Patrick, and every time I saw him he always had a great lesson, insight, or story to share. He was someone worthy of being emulated and was not only a great coworker, but a great man who will be truly missed.

We are so saddened hearing that the world lost a great father and a friend to so many. My daughter Lisa taught Clint and shared many life experiences with his family over the years. Jim is now sharing everlasting life with Lisa.
We will always remember his friendship and support throughout the years. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this very difficult time.

I know Jim as a team mate and a friend from ETSU. He was always super funny and serious all at the same time but you always knew you could count on him for straight council when needed. I know him as a very caring person, a good man and a friend. We lost touch after a couple of years out of school but it still hurts to see a brother fall way to soon. He will be missed and my thoughts and prayers are with the family. Rest easy Jim.

My heart breaks for the Shannon family. While Jim´s indomitable spirit and impressive legacy will live on and continue to touch Leigh, Cole, Blake, and Clint, the loss of such a vibrant life too early is a gut punch. The Bowers family was so happy to celebrate the joy of a union of 2 great people, Cousin Leigh and Jim, a new and very welcome family member 9-1/2 years ago. I feel so blessed that Leigh was loved by such a wonderful person and that she is now surrounded by Jim´s great sons as they mourn together. May Jim rest in peace and may the loved ones he left behind be comforted by the great memories and the family and friends Jim made throughout his life.

I will always remember Jim's sense of humor and the numerous times we talked at fishing tournaments on the deck of Houdini. Some serious discussions, some just fun. He had some great advice. I will never forget the caring Jim and Leigh showed after my marriage separation. Jim and Leigh are very special and I will miss him greatly.

Dear Shannon family,
I am so sorry for your loss. I taught Blake in second grade while Cole was taught by Mrs. Anders. I had the pleasure of meeting Clint at a school function. I remember seeing Jim around Porter-Gaud School or at a football game. He would always take time to see his boys and I enjoyed chatting with him.
I will miss seeing my friend. With prayers and thoughts for his wonderful family,
Mary Kennedy
