James "Russell" Howell
Folly Beach - James "Russell" Howell, 76, of Folly Beach, South Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, after a six month battle with cancer. He was residing at Riverside Health and Rehab in North Charleston, SC where he received special care from the staff.
Russell was born April 1, 1949 in Florence, South Carolina, son of the late Joseph "Ed" Howell and Mildred "Tootsie" Stone Howell. Russell moved with his family in 1957 to Folly Beach, SC.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph "Joe" Howell, Jr.; and Joe's wife, Paulette Howell.
He is survived by his sister, Susan "Susie" Howell-Levisen; nephew, Christopher Howell, and his companion, Mandy Grant; aunt, Elda Mae McCutchan; and many cousins, friends, and acquaintances.
A private Graveside Service will be held Monday, March 16, 2026 in the Live Oak Memorial Gardens, 3093 Ashley River Road at 11:00 am. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel.
The family is most grateful for the compassionate care and support provided by Riverside Health and Rehab, Interim HealthCare of Charleston, family, and friends.
