James Robinson Obituary

James Allen Robinson "Jim" COLUMBIA - James "Jim" Allen Robinson, 56, husband of Nan Gibson Robinson of Columbia, SC passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at his home in Columbia, SC. The relatives and friends of Jim Robinson are invited to attend a Celebration of His Life on Monday, November 30, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL. The family will receive friends following the service. Jim was born on September 19, 1953 in Arlington, VA, son of Fred and Grace Robinson. He attended school at Bethpage, TN and at Howard and Vena Stuart Schools at Gallatin, TN. He attended Moultrie High School in Mt. Pleasant, SC. He graduated from the College of Charleston with a degree in accounting and business administration. He was a senior auditor for the U.S. Credit Union Administration and worked out of Columbia, SC. James joined the U.S. Army when he was 17 years old and received basic training at Fort Jackson, SC. He was in the 3rd Infantry "Old Guard" Regiment at Fort Meyer, VA and served a tour in Germany. He was on active duty for seven years and in the reserves afterward. Recalled to active duty during the Desert Storm crisis, he served in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East during the Gulf War. He retired from the military after 25 years of service. Jim first married Julie Ames on June 29, 1974 in Glasgow, Montana. They had three sons Jason, born in Bremerhaven, Germany; James "Jamey," born in Columbia, SC and Jacob, born in Columbia, SC. On May 23, 1998 Jim married Nan Gibson, and they have two daughters, Carrie, age 8, and Anya, age 6. In addition to his wife, Nan, and his children, Jim is survived by his parents, Fred and Grace Robinson of Mount Pleasant, SC; and two brothers, Robert and Morgan Robinson of Mount Pleasant, SC.
