James Rayburn Obituary

James Henry Rayburn, Sr. CHARLESTON - James Henry Rayburn, Sr., husband of Chrystal Browning Rayburn, passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2011at a local hospital. Residence, Charleston, South Carolina. Funeral services for Henry will be held at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL,Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 12:30 pm. Burial will follow in Bethany Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel this Friday from 6 pm until 8 pm. Born February 27, 1930 in Forest City, NC, Henry was the son of the late James Tate Rayburn and Susan Flack Rayburn. He was a member of St. Barnabas Lutheran Church. Henry also was a Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Chrystal of Charleston; his children: Cathy Rayburn Shetz and her husband, Michael of Parkton, MD; Nancy Rayburn Johansson and her husband, Clay of Goose Creek, James H. Rayburn, Jr. and his wife, Annette of Goose Creek and Cynthia Lynn Rayburn of Mulhouse, France; 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Mr. Rayburn was preceded in death by his grandson, Aaron Warner Johansson, and his brother, Howard Nathan Rayburn. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Barnabas Lutheran Church, 45 Moultrie Street, Charleston, SC 29403.
