James Kirven Obituary

KIRVEN, James KINGSTREE - James Noel Kirven, known to everyone as "Mr. Jim", died Saturday, October 15, 2005 in Kingstree hospital after an extended illness. Mr. Kirven was born January 17, 1929 in Darlington County; a son of the late Noel Wilson Kirven and Ethel Moore Kirven. He was on one of the founders of Williamsburg Academy and served as Chairman of the Board for 17 years. Mr. Kirven continued to serve as Board Member Emeritus until his death. He was a member of Kingstree United Methodist Church where he served in various capacities including Chairman of the Board of Trustees. Mr. Kirven was employed by SC Farm Bureau Livestock Marketing Assoc. and owner of Jim's Livestock, Inc. He was also co-owner and founder of Williamsburg Packing Co., Inc. Mr. Kirven was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Woodmen of the World, where he served as president of the local lodge for a number of years. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Harriett Crittcher Kirven of Kingstree; three daughters, Julie (Pat) Floyd and Lynn (Frank) Wilson of Cades and Cindy (Mike) Epps of Ridgeland; six grandchildren, Patty (Steve) Wilbourne, Christopher Floyd, Adam Wilson, Drayton Epps, Kyle Wilson, and Crystal Epps; and a great-granddaughter, Annie Kirven Wilbourne. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Kingstree United Methodist Church with burial to follow in Kingstree Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Williamsburg Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Williamsburg Academy, P.O.
