James Kinard Obituary

SGT Major James "Jimmie" Martin Kinard Bamberg, SC - SGT Major James "Jimmie" Martin Kinard, 83 of Bamberg, SC passed away Monday, March 12, 2018 peacefully surrounded by his children. Funeral services for Mr. Kinard will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, March 15, 2018 at the Trinity United Methodist Church 11761 Heritage Highway Bamberg, SC with Rev. David Caughman officiating. Burial will follow at Bamberg county Memory Gardens. He was born in Ehrhardt, SC on February 3, 1935 to the late Edwin and Callie Bishop Kinard. He was married to the late Doris Kinard for 50 years. He was a retired SGT Major with the South Carolina Army National Guard after 44 years. He retired from the Bamberg Fire Department after 23 years. He was very active in his church Trinity United Methodist in Bamberg, serving for many years as treasurer of the Board of Trustees. He was one of the Co-Founders of the Bamberg Salkehatie Summer Camp, overseeing the restoration of many homes in the area. He coached youth baseball in both Ehrhardt and Bamberg for over 30 years. He was a member of the Bamberg Lions Club, a member of the American Legion and drove the bus for the Bamberg Ehrhardt Band for many years. He volunteered for many years calling Bingo at the Edisto Convalescence Home. He is survived by his daughter Shryll (Obie) Kinard Williams of Bamberg, sons Trevor (Heather)Kinard of Lexington, Bamberg County Councilman Trent (Bridget) Kinard of Bamberg, Martin (Ann) Kinard of Sanford, Maine. 9 grandchildren Dallas (Maggie) Williams, Laney Kinard, Kolt Kinard, Hunter Bridges, Emma Bridges, Lauren Kinard, Matthew Kinard, Denver Kinard, Taylor (Sajae) Kinard. 6 great grandchildren, one sister Pauline Roberts of Cayce, SC. He was predeceased by his wife Doris Kinard, brother Edwin Alfred Kinard and uncle Harold Kinard. Memorials can be sent to Trinity United Methodist Church P.O.
