James Howard Parker
Mount Pleasant - James Howard Parker, 67, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Henrietta Barnes Parker, entered into eternal rest on Friday, January 30, 2026. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 9, 2026 in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, February 10, 2026 in St. Philip's Church at 2:00 pm, and inurnment will follow in Magnolia Cemetery.
Jim was born December 12, 1958 in Seattle, Washington, son of the late Howard Arthur Parker and Mary Agnes Jones Parker. Jim earned a degree in journalism from Washington and Lee University. He was a reporter with Evening Post Publishing Company for 38 years working at The Kingstree News, The Georgetown Times and The Post and Courier. He was a running enthusiast who ran cross country in high school and college. He also enjoyed coaching his sons' youth soccer teams. He was a member of St. Philip's Church and the Society of Professional Journalists.
In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by his sons, James Simons Parker and John Gibbs Parker; brother, Scott Kimbrough Parker; and nephew, Natalio Roberto Parker.
Memorial donations can be made in Jim's memory to Pompion Hill Chapel or to the Charleston Animal Society.
