James Hart Obituary

HART, James Sergeant James Seabrook Hart, Sr., USMC (Retired) went to join his Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 5, 2009 peacefully surrounded by his family. James was born on August 2, 1929 in Charleston, South Carolina to Virginia Veronee Hart and William Townsend Hart. He was a Sergeant in the Marine Corps and was wounded in Korea. Jim graduated from Newberry College where he met his wife of 54 years. Elaine Maxwell Hart of Clover, South Carolina. Jim had a very long career in the field of education as a teacher, coach and Headmaster. He was known as "Coach Hart" to many across the state. His life was enriched by all the young people he was privileged to know and mentor. In the later years of his career he was fortunate to move back home to his beloved Wadmalaw Island where he loved to fish and garden. Jim was a past Master of the Fidelity Lodge #304 on Johns Island, a member of the Scottish Rite, Marine Corps League and a member of St. Johns Episcopal Church where he was a past Vestryman. Surviving in addition to his wife, Elaine of Wadmalaw; are his children, Lesa Hart Foster and her husband Dr. Richard P. Foster of Wadmalaw; James Seabrook (Brooks) Hart, Jr. of New York City and Merida, Mexico; David Rodgers (Roger) Hart and his wife Margarita Lopez Hart of Wadmalaw; Weslie Ann Hart of Wadmalaw; a sister, Virginia Hart Sanders of Monroe, NC; a sister-in-law, Jean Hart of Pensacola, FL; six grandchildren, Ashlee Parra and her husband Carlos, Layna Foster, Jenna Foster, Matthew Hart Foster, Jonathan Hart and Emily Hart; and two great grandchildren, Nicolas "Nico" Parra and Lucas Parra. He is predeceased by his mother and father and an infant brother, Bobby Hart and a brother William T. (Billy) Hart and a sister Katherine (Kitty) Hart. Jim will be sadly missed by his family and those who knew him. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the MS Society, SC Chapter, 2711 Middleburg Drive, Ste. 105,Columbia, SC 29202 and or St. Johns Episcopal Church, 3673 Maybank Highway, Johns Island, SC 29455. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. James Seabrook Hart are invited to attend his funeral services at St. Johns Episcopal Church, Johns Island, Sunday afternoon, February 8, 2009 at two o'clock. Burial will follow in St. Johns Episcopal Churchyard with Military Honors. The family will receive friends at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL this Saturday afternoon from five until seven o'clock. A memorial message may be written to the family by visiting our website, www.jhenrystuhr.com.
