James Hall - and his lesson in living

I always admired Jim for his choices - he was careful and deliberate with what he decided to do, where he spent his energy, how he used his time. He would start his day with what he loved most - his family, showing his love and support by preparing breakfast, and sharing thoughtful conversation over the meal he brought for all to share. The message: I begin my day honoring those I love with attention and nourishment. By giving to others what I need myself - we are all better from that simple expression.

I never heard him utter a word in anger, rancor or bitterness - he tried his hardest to find positives, and when he couldn’t, he’d joke that he wasn’t smart enough to understand the issue. Often, after speaking with him, I would realize his statements - and especially his questions - were his gentle attempts to lead me to a new thought, and a different perspective. I - a teacher by profession, always found myself learning from Jim.

My own father was an evangelist - one who tried his entire life to share a philosophy of living driven by a simple, golden rule - ‘Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you.’ An irony that the two fathers in my life never met... and that the first was unable to see the life, the joy and the love that Jim brought to that simple teaching. It was a beautiful expression to observe, to share, and to ponder - and as always Jim has left me (us?) with another lesson to learn.

Betty Lou and family, sorry to hear about Mr. Hall. He was surely good to all of us at Industrial Electrics and I am sure everyone who had the pleasure to know him loved him for the kind of person he was. He will certainly be missed by everyone. Jerry and Kay McEntire (Kernersville NC)

Mrs. Hall and family,
I am saddened to read about Mr. Hall having passed away.
I was very fortunate to have been given the opportunity to have been employed by Mr. Hall at Industrial Electric in the front office in the late 1970's. One could not have been asked, to have worked for a "finer man than Mr. Hall". He was one of the most respected, knowledgeable, educated, man-of-his-word and most successful business owners in the Greensboro, North Carolina area.
May God radiate his love in your hearts and give you peace and understanding through this difficult time today and in the coming days. My prayer is that God will keep you in his tender care.

BettyLou, Lucille, and Beth, it was with great sadness when I heard that Jim passed on Saturday, June 19th. You
and the family have my sincere condolences and prayers. As a neighbor
for over 25 years and seeing our children play and swim together in the
Lawndale area, it created many wonder-
ful memories. And then to work for Jim
and Raymond for almost 25 years was my
genuine pleasure to gain their great knowledge and work ethics.
He will be sorely missed. God Bless!

I was only 11 or 12 when I first met Mr. Hall. I can remember playing in the isles of Industrial Electrics and someone would say, "Here comes Mr. Hall" and I would stop and hurry back toward Mom's (Dora) office. A long time has past but thanks for the fond memories both at the work place and at Pawleys Island. You will be missed by many... And, my prayers are with Mrs. Hall and the family. Love, Tonja
