James Gowan Obituary

James C. Gowan, Jr. SANTEE, SC - James C. "Shadow" Gowan, Jr., 74, of Santee, died Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Lexington Medical Center. Jim was born July 11, 1941 in Spartanburg, S.C. He was the son of the late James C. Gowan, Sr. and the late Pauline Comer Gowan. He was a Mason, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating. Jim was the Sales Manager with Knight's Precast in Summerville, S.C. for the past 15 years and played a vital role in the company's success. Surviving are his life partner, Sharon Winningham of Santee, S.C., a son, James C. (Sandy) Gowan III of Enoree, S.C., daughters, Cindy (Mark) Quillen of Spartanburg, S.C., and Sandy (Tommy) Hance of Reidville, S.C., a sister, Barbara (Joe) Alley of Lexington, S.C., 11 grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter. A service for Jim's many friends in the lower part of the state will be held on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at 2 pm, Avinger Funeral Home, in Holly Hill, S.C. The Rev. Jim Palmer will officiate and the family will receive friends after this service at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held on Monday, February 22, 2016 at 2:00pm at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Spartanburg, S.C. with Rev. Dr. Lynne Alley-Grant officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the graveside service at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel from 1:00pm-1:45 pm on Monday, February 22, 2016.
