James Floyd COTTAGEVILLE, SC - Mr. James Daniel Floyd, affectionately known by all as "Jimmy", age 50, of Durango Lane, Cottageville, entered into rest Tuesday morning, July 23, 2013, at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston from injuries sustained during a Sunday afternoon accident in Colleton County. Funeral services will be conducted 6 o'clock Sunday evening, July 28, 2013, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro with Masonic rites conferred by Bethlehem Masonic Lodge. The family will receive friends following the funeral ceremony until 8 o'clock that evening in the Harbiston Stateroom of the mortuary. Born April 20, 1963, a native of Long Beach, Mississippi, he made the Lowcountry of South Carolina his home since 1992 and resided in Cottageville for the past eleven years. Jimmy believed in hard work and was a happy-go-lucky person. His beautiful personality was shown each and every day through his never ending smile and his constant joy in talking with others, never having met a stranger through his work or his civic involvements. He was employed with LowCountry Shell Fish Company in Charleston and was a former assistant manager for Roses in Walterboro. Previously, he was employed by Patriots Point Charleston in Mount Pleasant, where on their historic aircraft carrier, The USS Yorktown, he worked public safety and maintenance for the ship's Flight Simulator. He also was employed by Carolina Nurseries, where he was truly loved. He was a member of Bethlehem Masonic Lodge, No. 338 - Ancient Free Masons in Round O where he was raised to the sublime degree of as Master Mason on April 5, 2007 after having demitted from Pythagorean Masonic Lodge No. 21 in Charleston. He then continued to his thirty-second degree Scottish Rite, holding membership at the Valley of Charleston - Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Free Masonry. Due to his love of the craft and motorcycles he organized and eventually was the founder of the "Hiram Sacred Few" a group for Masonic Riders in the Lowcountry where he was currently serving as the group's President. Surviving are: His wife of thirty-four years, Mrs. Elizabeth Buckley Floyd; a daughter, Wendy Darlene Graham and her husband Nathan of Summerville; and two sisters, Shelia Kantor of Summerville and Barbara Wallace of Georgia. There are three grandchildren whom he dearly loved, Cynthia, Robert, and Alyssa as well as nephews and nieces to include, Geneva Gunnells and her husband Wally, Marie Ard, and Candace Powell. He was preceded in death by his mother, Claudia Perry Ward; and a brother, James Gann.
