Still miss Jim and wish he were still with us

Mrs. Ferguson, I didn't know your husband, and I've never had the pleasure of meeting you. I am an employee of the National Dropout Prevention Center/Network which you created 30 years ago. Your portrait hangs in our main hall. I just wanted to reach out to you and express my sympathy for your loss. I know your husband was a strong supporter of your work to lower the dropout rate, and I wanted you to know that our small team is still making a huge impact for underserved children across the nation. Our thoughts are with you.

Jim was a wonderful and gracious friend to me as his minister. He consistently met the world with warmth, humor, and a deep feeling of appreciation for all he had and all he knew. To say I will miss him would be and understatment. Men like him are hard to find these days.

Both you and Jim have been such a special part of our community for so long, have given so much, for so many - its hard to think of him not here. From the Aquarium to Spoleto to MUSC to Middleton Place to the Palmetto Project and so many more his (and your) huge positive impact will be felt for many years to come.

My heartfelt condolences go out to Mrs. Ferguson and the family. I had the distinct honor and pleasure to work with Mr. Ferguson as his personal trainer for more than 21 years. He was my first client, and I couldn't have asked more from an individual. I truly enjoyed working with him. He challenged me as much I did him. He will be missed.
