James Vernon Epps. Anyone who heard his name knew him immediately and were blessed. I have known him for more than 30 years working for the independent agents association of which he served in many ways including president. During his year as president, he visited every member in North and South Carolina. He was so proud of the agency staff, knowing he could leave the office and they would take care of things for his customers. After he "retired" (and I use that term loosely), we talked on the phone and I could see the smile on his face and the twinkle in his eyes as he related a story or new idea he had. He loved Lake City. He loved and was very proud of his children, letting each find their own place in the world as he had done so. He truly loved Dot and let everyone know how special she was and how lucky he was to be her husband. As a young college graduate, I was fourtunate to meet him early in my career. Without meaning to, he taught me many things that have guided my life. Yes, he had many interests, many achievement and many accolades. I think that he would feel that having the opportunity to help others was what he cherished most of all. God Bless everyone who knew him and God bless you, James Vernon and thank you.

Mr. James Vernon was "The Best Band Dad" of them all. So much discipline yet so much humor in dealing with hyperactive teenage boys. He was very special, will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.

May God bless you all.

Miss Dot, John, Steve, and Leah,
My sympathies and prayers are with you at this sad time. I have so many fond memories of y'all and Lake City--Sunday School, church, youth group, and Bible School--
--band with John, riding in Steve's camaro, Baboo's place, and babysitting for Leah. Your dad was such a big part of LC Pres and of Lake City the town. He touched a lot of lives and will be missed.

Dot & Family
With much respect and appreciation we always placed Mr James Vernon at the top of our special friend list. He taught us so much about Lake City, Cades, Frances Marion,Train Depots and the importance of keeping the past alive and preserved for future generations.

We realized early in our friendship he carried a deep love for his extended community and wanted in the worst way to leave a legacy of civic pride. We firmly believe that every life he touched has been made better because of his sincere drive and joy for life.

He was a "Peter Pan" at heart and a true friend we will always remember with a huge smile.
