James Duckworth Obituary

James Michael Duckworth CHARLESTON - James Michael Duckworth, born on November 18, 1954 at Bon Secours Hospital in Baltimore, MD, died at Bon Secours Saint Francis Hospital, Charleston, SC, on September 3, 2014. Michael "Mike" was the son of Donald and Suzanne Horn Duckworth, brother of Kim, Robert (Robin) and Christopher (Bonnie). Mike was preceded in death by his father, Donald, and younger brother, Chris. He is also survived by niece, Charlotte Duckworth; nephews, Clint Duckworth (Crystal) and Samuel Duckworth; and a large extended family of relatives and friends who will deeply miss this strong, kind and gentle man. Mike graduated from Hanahan High school in 1973, and began working for General Dynamics at Bushy Park, SC, where he rose to a supervisory position on the LNG spheres project. He moved on to work on the Baltimore Tunnel project until completion. His career continued in both commercial and residential construction in New Jersey and South Carolina. Most recently, Mike worked in supervision with The Bridges of Hope, a long-term residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation program in Georgia. Mike was a long-time NASCAR fan and the handyman for family and friends. He loved the beach and his cat, Bootsie. Arrangements by Simplicity Lowcountry Cremation & Burial Services. Interment service will be held at Grace Episcopal Church, Charleston, SC, at a date to be determined.
