DAVIS, James Chadwick James Chadwick Davis (Chad), of Mt. Pleasant, SC, a retired United Methodist minister, and husband of Faye Hughes Davis, died early on October 1, 2007. Rev. Most recently, he was instrumental in forming a new congregation at Waters Edge UMC in Beaufort, SC. He was pastor emeritus at Trinity UMC Charleston. He was one of the early heart transplant recipients at MUSC in August 1993. Following his successful transplant, he worked tirelessly as an advocate for organ donation and counselor for transplant recipients. Loving Family, I wanted to extend to you my thoughts and prayers. It was my pleasure to work with Chad both in Charleston and in Florence as he shared his gifts with many in counseling about organ donation and transplantation for LifePoint/SCOPA.I know that he was a great comfort to many and ecspecially to donor families. I can only imagine as he was recieved by our Lord and Savior saying well done my good and faithful servant. Chad will always be remember and treasured by LifePoint.

Faye,
My heart has been so very saddened this week when I heard about Chad...I know he is smiling down from above and I am grateful to know our paths will cross again!! You will continue to be in my prayers and near my heart in the days ahead. I shall always remember Chad's wonderful outlook and the inspiration he shared in his daily life. I truly know I am a better person for having known Chad. His positive influence got me through many tough days...I shall always remember his wonderful spirit.

Dear Mrs.Davis,
My prayers are with you and your family. My family attended Aldersgate UMC in Sumter when you all were serving there. Mr. Davis led my confirmation group and was such a wonderful example for us to follow. I remember him welcoming all kinds of people and teaching our youth group to accept others, regardless of looks and attitudes. He was involved with MYF and helped our group to become one of the strongest programs in the area at the time. We all thought he was a really cool minister! I hope that my own children will be blessed with someone who will be such a gentle, Christian influence for them as your husband, Chad was for us.
Sincerely,
Lori Calcutt Yandle

I grew up with Chad at No.Charleston, UMC. My husband (Carl Simms--deceased)knew him also. I have many memories from MYF. One memory always stands out in my mind. We had had a very spiritual service one Sunday night, and afterwards he was still effected by it, and sat at the piano playing "Precious Memories". That time
has always been an inspiration to me. I believe it was around that time that he decided to answer the
call to preach.

Faye and Family
I am sending my condolences of sympathy to you and your family in the passing of such a loved one. I kept up with him and his problems through his brother Charles as I see him every day at Life Care Nursing Center. I am sure you know James has been there for a year and half and I go every day to be with him as I know that is where I am supposed to be. I will always remember Chad eating fried chicken with us on Sundays after church. I have fond memories of the two of you. May you truly feel the presence of God near as you go through this very hard time but know that he is at peace and with no pain.

I did not know Chad for a long period of time, but I know he was there for LifePoint when we needed him. My first experience with Chad was when I ask him to have the invocation and benediction at one of our Donor Family Ceremonies in Columbia. Not only did he pray, he also prayed for these donor families and then spoke to them. He was the one who defined LifePoint (SCOPA). Those words are written on the insert card of the donor medal we give to donor families. I'll always remember him as a very giving and loving gentleman who also loved the Lord.

Chad was a wonderful person besides being a great minister. I will always remember when Chad returned to Bethel in Spartanburg to help with the Tissue and Organ Donor Awareness Sunday I coordinated. His message that day touched many. My thoughts and prayers go with all of you. His heart donor's family will also be in my prayers.

Faye and family, we offer you our condolence. Chad was one of the most dedicated and loved clergy of the SC Conference. I got to know him when he was Superintendent of the Columbia District. He was compassionate and helpful, as well as a wonderful role model for all who serve our Lord.

May God comfort and bless you, as through your sorrow, you celebrate his life so well lived with grace and compassion.

God bless you and keep you.
