James Currie Obituary

James William Currie N. CHARLESTON - James William Currie "Red" passed away on September 15, 2022. He was born February 4, 1937 in his childhood home in Harleyville, SC. He is survived by his sister, Margaret Ann King of Harleyville, sons, Mitchell Currie (Kathy) of Goose Creek, SC, Troy Currie (Caryn) of Germany, granddaughter, Kaylin Centanni (Sam) of North Carolina, grandson, William Currie of North Charleston, great-granddaughter, Scarlett Centanni. He is predeceased by his son, Willian "Todd" Currie, mother, Essie Grooms Currie, father, Archie Calvin Currie, Sr. and brother, Archie Calvin Currie,, Jr. He graduated from Harleyville-Ridgeville High School 1955 and attended Furman College. He was honorably discharged from U.S. Air Force. He retired from the Charleston Naval Shipyard and later owned a small fleet of semi-trucks. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Shriners. He was also an avid weight lifter for most of his life. We would like to give special thanks to Mary from Visiting Angels for all of her love and support for him during his last months with us.
