James Vernon Coomer Summerville - James Vernon Coomer, 88, of Summerville, SC, widower of Mary Bouzek Coomer, entered into eternal rest Thursday, August 5, 2021. His Funeral Service will be held Monday, August 9, 2021 in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road at 2:00 pm. Interment to follow at Dorchester Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday one hour prior to the service. James was born October 2, 1932 in Columbia, KY, son of the late Albert Coomer and the late Allie Wilson Coomer. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He is survived by his son, Jim Coomer of Spring, TX; two daughters, Cindy Mozier (Frank) of Willow Springs, IL, Susie Hunter (Jeff) of Moncks Corner, SC; granddaughter, Melody Hunter; two great-grandchildren, Bobby Mozier and Rose Mozier; and a sister, Lillian Hubbard of Louisville, KY. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Bobby Mozier; and sisters: Opal, Betty and Grace. Through the past few years, our family has gotten to know Jim through cards/letters that he sent to my grandmother Shirley Bastow in St. John's, NL. They had a very special pen pal/friendship and he made her quite happy after she lost my grandfather. He often called or sent cards to some of our other family members at holidays and he became to be special to us as well as we enjoyed how special he was to my grandmother. My sincere condolences to all of his family.
