I was very lucky to serve under Lt. Jim in Aschaffenburg, Germany. I was a driver/draftsman, driving the BG CO's field office, HQ-64 and drawing charts and maps in S-3.. He and I drove many miles planning routes and such for marches, etc. We went to Nuremburg for a day and saw the building where the large swastika was blown up in the newsreels. He treated me like a friend and not as an underling. That was important to a 23 year old guy, married and 6000 miles away from home. It was my pleasure to do a pen and ink of Chief Sitting Bull (?) for him. I think your son got it. I spoke several times with the lady at the real estate office, but never got to speak with him. My loss. I'm sure he will be missed by a lot of folks. I know over the past 56 years I've often wondered about him. My cousin lives in Folly Beach and I had him look Jim up, but didn't connect. At 80-1/2 I still remember the laughs we all had, even with Major Rothenburg. I still talk with the S-3 gang at times. God Bless you all.
