James Clarke Obituary

James Clarke, Sr. Cross, sc - James Edward Clarke, Sr., 73, of Bannister Down, SC, a retired warden with the SC Forestry Commission, died Friday morning at his residence. His funeral will be 4:00 PM Monday afternoon, October 30, 2017, in the Friendship United Methodist Church, Cross. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Dial-Murray Funeral Home, Moncks Corner, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Sunday. Mr. Clarke was born January 7, 1944, in Moncks Corner, SC, a son of Edward C. "Buck" Clarke and Annie Laurie Kilpatrick Clarke. He was a US Marine Corps veteran and a member of the Friendship United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with his grandchildren, and playing games on his tablet. He was the oldest of twelve children and loved his family very much. Mr. Clarke was preceded in death by a daughter, Laurie Clarke, and five brothers, Calvitt "Gene" Clarke, Lewis Clarke, Charlie Clarke, Johnny Clarke, and Benny Clarke. Surviving are his wife, Mary A. Hunter Clarke; two daughters, Tina Clarke and her husband, Jessie Stone, of Moncks Corner, and Leslie Clarke of Bannister Down; a son, Jimmy Clarke, Jr., of Bannister Down; four sisters, Ann Travis of Rosco, NY, Frances Magargle , Rose Clarke, and Helen Clarke all of Eadytown; two brothers, Wayne Clarke and Claude Clarke both of Eadytown; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
