James (Jim) Clarence Christy EATONTON GA - December 23, 1936 - March 10, 2023 Mr. James (Jim) Clarence Christy, age 86, of Eatonton, passed away Friday, March 10, 2023. He was born in Cleveland, GA. Mr. Christy is preceded in death by his mother, Jessie Christy Styles; his dad, H.H. Christy; brother-in-law, Barnett Humphries; and grandson, Kristopher Beall. He was a graduate of Cleveland High School and then entered into the Air Force where he served for 20 years. Mr. Christy was a Chief Test Flight Engineer at the 437 Airlift Wing, Charleston, Air Force Base, SC. After his retirement from the U.S. Air Force, Jim owned and operated Christy's Air Conditioning and Heating in Charleston, SC, which he grew into a successful business that thrived until his retirement. Upon his retirement, he and his wife, Marijane, relocated to Jacksonville, FL, and eventually to Eatonton, GA, where they enjoyed life on the Lake Sinclair together. Survivors include his wife, Marijane Christy of Eatonton, GA; children, Sally Beall (Bobby) of Gainesville, VA, Lisa Elliott (Bruce) of Cleveland, GA, Mickey Christy (Kellie) of Elmer, LA; daughters by marriage, Lori Omasta of Milledgeville, GA, and Jennifer Marazza (Greg) of Scottdale, PA, 12 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Anne Kent (Charles), Betty Humphries, Eva Nix (Gene) and Linda Leslie (Thomas) all of Cleveland, GA. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Chris Anderson will officiate. Burial will follow in Shoal Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 12-2 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service.
