James Carrigan Obituary

James Carrigan LADSON - James Chaney Carrigan entered into eternal rest on March 7, 2013. James was born June 1, 1935 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was the son of Chauncy Albee Carrigan and Lydia Maud Savage Carrigan. A graveside service will be held Thursday morning, March 14, 2013 at Summerville Cemetery at 10 o'clock. Flowers will be accepted. He was a proud member of the military and served 11 years in the US Navy Reserves, the US Navy and the US Air Force. In addition James performed thirty years' service as a civil servant and received numerous awards for his superior performance. James also gave his time serving as a respected troop leader in the Boy Scouts of America. James was also a member of the Ancient Freemason's during his lifetime. He was also a scholar and teacher, having graduated from Trident Technical College, Southern Illinois University and Buxton University, earning degrees in Associate of Arts, Bachelor of Science and Master's Degree from these schools of higher learning. He was a teacher, mentor, father and great friend whom had a head for business and a heart of gold. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family. He is survived by a son, James P. Carrigan and wife Cathy Thomas Carrigan of Wadmalaw Island, South Carolina; daughter, Karen Ann Carrigan White and her husband Richard White of Moncks Corner; two step-daughters, Chrissiey Kennedy of Leadville, Colorado, and Kim Miller of Cross, South Carolina; six grandchildren, Scott Thomas, Amy Nielson and husband Jimmy Nielson all of Charleston, Wade Patrick Carrigan of Pimlico, South Carolina, William P. Hogge of Tacoma, Washington, and Cassandra Hogge of New Port Richey, Florida, Bryan Dylan Weast of Summerville; five great-grandchildren, Capers Lever of North Charleston, Jessica Nielson of Charleston, Gia A. Hogge of Tacoma, Washington, Harley Hogge and Raven Hogge of New Port Richey, Florida, two nephews, Robert Carrigan and wife Kim Carrigan and children Erin, Robbie and Katie Carrigan of Baltimore, Maryland and Michael Carrigan of Florida. James is preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Frances Royle and his second wife, Dorothy M. Carrigan and brother, Robert Carrigan.
