James Carpenter Obituary

CARPENTER, SR., James Entered into eternal rest on the morning of Wednesday September 6, 2006, James 'Sarge' Robert Carpenter, Sr. of Goose Creek, Husband of Barbara Carter Carpenter. The relatives and friends of James Robert Carpenter, Sr. are invited to attend his funeral service on Monday September 11,2006 at 10:00 A.M. at New Life Baptist Church in Goose Creek. Burial and committal services will follow in Carolina Memorial Park with Full Military Honors. Friends may call from the hours of 2: 00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. Sunday afternoon at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home. He was born on September 6, 1932 in Kings Mountain, NC to the late James Howard Carpenter and Artie P. Jolley. He was a retired Gunnery Sgt. with 20 years of service in the U.S.M.C. where he served during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was also retired from the Charleston Naval shipyard as a Commercial Electrician and was a member of New Life Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife Barbara Carter Carpenter of Goose Creek, Two daughter's Donna Deal of Lickingville, PA and Teresa Hammond and her husband Keith of Summerville, One son James R. Carpenter, Jr. and his wife Kimberly of Columbia, one sister Sue Grigg and her husband Clarence of Kings Mountain, NC. Six grandchildren, Patricia, Melanie, Jeremy, Jason, Garrett and Gregory and one great-grand child Joshua. He was preceded in death by a daughter Cheryl Carpenter.
