James Edward Boyd "Pete" RAVENEL, SC - Mr. James Edward Boyd (Pete), age 80, husband of Mrs. Rachel Sanders Boyd, of Ravenel, SC, passed away Saturday morning, September 12, 2009, at the Hospice Center of Charleston in Mount Pleasant. Friends and family of Mr. James E. Boyd are invited to attend his graveside memorial service on Thursday, September 17, 2009, at 11:00 a.m., at CAROLINA MEMORIAL PARK, 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29406. Mr. James Edward Boyd was born on September 17, 1928, in Vidalia, GA to the late James Royal Boyd and the late Sarah Udell Boyd. He was employed for over 25 years in the Maintenance Department with Gulf Oil, 10 years with Heath Farms and 11 years with Driftwood Plantation. Survivors include his wife Mrs. Rachel S. Boyd; two daughters, Gail B. Dann and Rachel Ann Hillsman; grandchildren, Megan Grimlin, Michael Fairey, Matthew L. Dann, Michelle Boyd, Victoria Hillsman and Jesse Hillsman; three great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter. Preceded in death by one daughter, Diann B. Amstuz,; one son, James Richard (Buddy) Boyd ; one sister Mary Walker; and two brothers, Carol (Sonny) Boyd and William Paul Boyd. Flowers will be accepted at the funeral home.
