Thoughts & prayers are with you and your family as you go thru this most difficult time. I will miss JIM along with many , he never met a stranger. I've known Jim since our JB Pivots days when I was bartending & he was that DJ with the infectious laugh & great smile. This was so long ago that Jamison was that cute little toddler that I would chase around the club! Fun times for sure. I've worked with him at many events & places where we always cut up! He was truly a legend in the Shag world & will be missed by many that were blessed to have known him and called him a friend as I did. Our Gamecock conversations were many & always ended with We will get em next year! Thanks for the great memories that I will treasure & smile as I think of you my dear friend, RIP. Candace was waiting to hug her Dad as heaven gained another angel. Take care sweet girl. Let your memories make you smile & soon bring you peace.

Our sincere condolences to the Bowers family. We always had fun dancing to Jim's music at N. Myrtle and here in Charleston - a great DJ that will certainly be missed by all. How could he possibly dance in those flip flops?!

When I first relocated to Mt. Pleasant in 2011, I met Jim at a shag event. I kept coming and sitting alone. Jim would always say hello, thanks for coming. Finally, he said 'Karyn, why don't you ever dance?' And I responded because no one ever asked me. Jim let out his trademark laugh and said,'Karyn, this is the SHAG!!! YOU have to ask the men to dance!!!" With that, he grabbed my hand and introduced me to half a dozen guys and said- 'NOW!!! GO DANCE!!!' - His kindness quickly turned into a wonderful true friendship that included him traveling to Colorado to be the DJ at my son Matthews's wedding. Everyone commented on his great music, how he kept the floor going and his fun banter. When I moved to Georgia temporarily, I still traveled to see Jim and my shag family. He would always greet me with a hug, and tell me thank you for coming. Every time I saw him we would have to dance and he would throw me into a wicked triple spin, and at the end of the night, he would hug me, and say ' Thank you so much for coming and supporting me, I love you and I will see you next time". So Jim, sending you a hug, I love you and I will see you next time

There are dj's that just push bottoms and there are dj's that are real entertainers. Jim Bowers was truly an entertaining dj. Jim was one of my favorite guys to work with and I will miss him dearly.

When Jim was playing, everybody played (he made sure all enjoyed themselves). He brought so many together--all became like a large family. We will miss Jim but no way we ever forget! This world is better because of him sharing his talents.

Jim's obituary is BEAUTIFULLY written as it captures him in well chosen words. He left a legacy that will never fade. Praying for strength and peace for his family and MANY friends. Thank you, Jim, for enhancing my life and the lives of my children starting on the pier at Wild Dunes years ago.

Michelle, I sure wish we could have gotten to know Jim! Reading all the tributes to honor him has given us a glimpse of what a fine and wonderful person he was! I know these tributes and comments will be a comfort as you read and reflect on so many memories! Just know we are hear for you and will to stay close as you navigate thru the coming months of adjusting to a new way of life. Jim "invited" everyone to the party and you knew it would be a fantastic time. He was open, kind, sincere, and made you feel special. He will be missed and we will think of him every time our feet hit the dance floor. Love ya, Man.

Michelle, I am so sorry for your loss. I so loved being your neighbor in North Point and was always so happy to see Jim and that delightful personality. I will never forget how much fun I had dancing with him and how he would just walk by the dance floor at Ducks and start dancing with me although I was already dancing with someone else. He will be so missed by everyone.
