James Ammons Obituary

James H. Ammons MONCKS CORNER - Deceased August 12th, 2021, James Hartford Ammons was born in Conway, South Carolina to Troy and Ruby Fullwood Ammons on February 15, 1928. He had 2 sisters, both deceased. He served his country as a sailor in the Navy for several years with extensive tours around Europe. After an honorable discharge from the service, he married his first wife, Ms. Lula Hendricks (deceased). They had 2 children, James H. Ammons, Jr. (deceased) and Francis Ruby Ammons of NC. They have 4 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He and Lula were divorced and Mr. Ammons later married Beverly Mikell Johnson. He was a route salesman for Clausen's Bakery for 28 years, worked with Charleston County Mosquito Abatement for 7 years, and also worked for the Stewart sandwich company until he retired and helped his wife (Beverly) at Ammons Ark Taxidermy until they both closed the business many years later. He leaves his wife, Beverly of 43 years and three step-children. He went by "Sam" to all that knew him and was known as a dependable, honest and hard-working fellow.
