Jacqueline Jones Obituary

Jacqueline "Jacquie" LaVone Jones (née Dunson), 74, of Summerville, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on June 27, 1951, in Cleveland, Ohio to the late John Dunson and Nancy Dunson (née Fogle). Jacquie lived a life full of compassion and devotion to those she loved. She married the love of her life, Robert C. Jones III, and together they shared 54 years of marriage, a true testament to enduring love and partnership. Jacquie graduated from Trident Technical College and dedicated much of her life to caring for others as a registered nurse in labor and delivery. Jacquie's lifelong passion and calling was music. She earned her bachelor's degree in piano performance from Charleston Southern University, where she had accompanied the Bel Canto choral ensemble for 18 years. She spent many years and up until September teaching piano and inspiring students of all ages. A woman of deep faith, Jacquie was a member and church accompanist of Dorchester Presbyterian Church, where she shared her musical gifts of joy, worship, and fellowship. For several years Jacquie was the Children's Music Director at Crossroads Community Church and the church pianist. She was a past president of the Charleston Music Teacher Association and had served on the Executive Board for many years. She was part of the Summerville Piano Ensemble. She had originated, directed, and played for a choral ensemble that performed sacred music for various venues. Jacquie will be remembered for her unwavering love of faith, family, and friends. She found joy in traveling and bringing people together. Her faith, kindness, laughter, and warmth touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She is survived by her loving husband, Robert C. Jones III; her children: Carrie L. J. Maas and Robert C. Jones IV (Victoria); her grandchildren: Justin T. Maas (Hannah), Bryan A. Maas, Katelyn R. Glanville (Justin), Robert C. Jones V (Cristina), Andrew P. Jones, and Lauren A. Quickmire (Kody); her great granddaughters: Nova and Karsyn Jones; her siblings: Jill M. Baker (Robert), John J. Dunson II, and Hal E. Dunson; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A celebration of life will be held at a later date at Dorchester Presbyterian Church.

She will live on through the music she taught an entire generation of piano students including myself. Every time I play music it´s a tribute to her talents, kindness, and patience as a teacher, and as a person.

I did not realize that the text you sent me on October 6th would be our last communication ever. For over 7 years you were first my teacher and then a friend. I will miss your guidance and your love of life. My condolences to Rob and the rest of the family. God speed.
