Jacqueline Cox Obituary

Jacqueline Cox Hanahan - Jacqueline Thompson "Jackie" Cox, 90, of Hanahan, widow of Harold Cox, entered into eternal rest Monday October 23, 2017. She was born in Andrews, SC, a daughter of the late Alfred B. Thompson and Mary Margaret Freeman Thompson. Jackie began coaching youth bowling in 1957 and became a certified coach instructor in 1962. She served 8 years as the secretary of the Pensacola (Florida) Junior Bowling Association and along with her husband, Harold, helped to establish the Pensacola and the State of Florida Junior Associations. After returning to Charleston, she served on the Youth Association for 17 years in various capacities. She was also involved in the Charleston Women's Bowling Association for15 years. She was a Member Emeritus of the Charleston Women's Bowling Association. In 1998 she was inducted into the South Carolina Bowling Congress Hall of Fame. In addition to bowling, Jackie also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and collecting and reading cookbooks. She is survived by her three children: DiAnne Friend (David), Deborah Mixon (Larry) and Harold DeWayne Cox; Six grandchildren: Catherine Friend, Matthew Friend (D'Ann), Samuel Friend (Esmeralda), Michael Mixon, Jacquelyn Valastin (Joseph) and Katheryn Christly (Matthew). She also leaves six great-grandchildren: Vincent Friend, Bodie Friend, Odin Friend, Fenris Friend, Camden Christly and Owen Valastin. As well as her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Jean Mason (Clyde), Constance Bunch (Bill) and brothers Ralph, Leroy and Alfred Jr. The relatives and friends of Jacqueline Cox are invited to attend her funeral services on Friday October 27, 2017 at 1 pm CAROLINA MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior at the funeral home. Arrangements provided by CAROLINA MEMORIAL PARK, FUNERALS and CREMATIONS, 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston, SC 29406 (843)797-2222. I sure will miss my first cousin . I could always enjoy a conversation or visit with her. She was a very special lady . I will miss our talks on the phone also. Jackie you can hear really good now and when I get there we can have good visits again and we won't have to raise our voice anymore. Love you so much my cuz.

Jacquelyn will be missed dearly! She holds a special place in my heart forever. Over the last fifteen years Jackie and I became close and developed a strong bond. Jackie, you will be deeply missed and always be "momma" to me.
