Jacqueline Bowe Obituary

Jacqueline Welch Bowe Charleston - Jacqueline Welch Bowe, 99, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of John Doremus Bowe, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, September 20, 2022. Jackie was born July 11, 1923 in Kansas City, Missouri, daughter of the late Gustavus D. Welch and Mildred Peet Welch. Her childhood house was near the Nelson Art Gallery, where she fondly remembered the Country Club Plaza being built with teams of horses. Jackie moved with her family to 61st and Ward Parkway and attended Bryant for grade school and Notre Dame de Sion middle school. She graduated high school from Barstow in 1940. As a child, Jackie enjoyed summers at Kansas City Country Club, dance camp in New Hampshire, and French camp at Ecole Champlain in Vermont. Jackie attended Bennett Junior College located in The Village of Millbrook in New York and majored in Dance. She then went on to meet the love of her life, Jack Bowe, and they moved to Basking Ridge, New Jersey and subsequently built a home in Bernardsville, New Jersey. She and Jack were members of Somerset Hills Country Club. Jackie continued with her passion for art and dance and took painting classes in New York City from the legendary Isabel O'Neill. In 1976, Jackie and Jack discovered their dream retirement destination, Seabrook Island, South Carolina. While in Seabrook, they met numerous friends and opened up their beautiful home to their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and made many lasting memories. Golf, gardening, and travel were always on high on Jackie's list of things she loved. She and Jack, along with their friends and family, traveled extensively and saw the world....Africa, Hawaii, most of Europe, and South America. After spending 30 years in Seabrook, Jackie and Jack moved to beautiful Bishop Gadsden in Charleston, SC. They enjoyed their later years in "town" with many old friends while making new friends along the way. When Jackie was 80, she organized the Bishop Gadsden Flower Guild and took great pride in making flower arrangements for services. Jackie is survived by her son, Richard F. Moseley (Marsha); four grandchildren: Richard Moseley, Jr., David Moseley (Bree), Peet Moseley (Ellie), Adam Moseley (Molly); two step-grandchildren Tavis Holsinger (Traci) and Trevor Holsinger (Jody) and eight great-grandchildren: Charlie, Porter, Emily, Gus, Sully, Will, Hank, and Addie. Jackie was predeceased by her son, Stephen P. Moseley (Susan). Memorials may be made to the Bishop Gadsden Charitable Fund, 1 Bishop Gadsden Way, Charleston, SC 29412. A memorial message may be sent to the family by visiting funeral home website at www.jhenrystuhr.com. There will be a memorial service at a later date in Kansas City, MO at Forest Hill and Calvary Cemetery. Visit our guestbook at legacy.com/obituaries/charleston
