Jacob Rowell Obituary

Jacob Rowell JAMES ISLAND - Jacob Calhoun Rowell, 96, of James Island, passed away on October 9, 2011. Born in St. George, Mr. Rowell was the son of Humbert and Rose Walters Rowell and widower of Willard Ackerman Rowell. He was employed as a Route Salesman for W.R. Patrick Company in Charleston. Mr. Rowell was a former member of Charleston Municipal Golf Course and also former Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 33. He was also a member at St. James United Methodist Church, Charleston and the Fellowship Society along with being a Mason. Mr. Rowell is survived by two sons, Jake Rowell, Jr. and wife, Mary of Anderson and Willard Rowell and wife, Lynne of York; two daughters, Gail Davis of Stephens, GA and Joyce Hall and husband Clyde, of Summerville. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Mr. Rowell was preceded in death by two brothers, James Rowell and Theodore Ted Rowell and sister, Bertie Proctor. The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 11, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, GOOSE CREEK CHAPEL, 869 ST. JAMES AVE. Funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at St. James United Methodist Church, 512 St. James Ave. with burial to follow in Riverview Memorial Park, North Charleston. The family would like to thank all of the wonderful staff of The Bridge Assisted Living. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
