Jackie Matthews Kidd DeGrippo MIDDLEBURG, FL - In the arms of an angel, Jackie passed away on Monday, November 22, 2010, at Community Hospice of Jacksonville. She was surrounded by her family, her dogs and friends who will always love her and cherish her memory. She lived in Middleburg, FL and Augusta and Lawrenceville, GA. She was born April 24, 1944, in Saluda, SC, daughter of the late M. C. Matthews, Jr. and the late McConnor Bladon Berry. Jackie retired from AT&T after 30 years of service. She worked in Columbia, Tallahassee, Augusta and Atlanta. Surviving are her husband, Bob and her beloved dogs, Hammer and Kelsey of the home and step-daughter, Sherrod DeGrippo of Kalamazoo, MI, her sister, Mrs. Peggie Standridge of Hyattsville, MD and niece and caregiver Renee Rhinehart of Summerville, SC and God-daughter Kelly Standridge of Bethesda, MD. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by sister, Mrs. Gennie Matthews, Forest Hills, CA, sister and brother-in-law, Hunter and Susie Newman of Oceanside, CA and brother-in-law Henry C. Standridge, Sr. Also stepfather Herman W. Berry, and aunt that raised her, Mrs. Leatha Merchant and Mrs. Tillie Biuzhardt of Batesburg, SC. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2010, at 1:00 PM at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 111 Blanding Boulevard, Orange Park, FL. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the ASPCA. The family would also like to express thanks and gratitude to Community Hospice and her caregivers, Tammi, Marissa, Patty, Roada, Angela, Roxi, Janice, Denise and Carolyn.
