Jack "Ron" Ronald Williams, Jr. Summerville - Jack Ronald (Ron) Williams, Jr, 75, of Summerville, SC, husband of Jani Williams, passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2019. He was born on December 10, 1943, in Orangeburg, SC, son of Carrie Louise Sandel Williams and Jack Ronald Williams, Sr. In high school he earned an Eagle Scout award. He excelled in sports, lettering in basketball and football. He was center on the Orangeburg High School basketball team where his nickname was "Oldsmo". In 1961, he was chosen to play on the SC football team in the Shrine Bowl which was comprised of all stars from SC and NC. The South Carolina team won the game 24-0. He was on the high school track team in 1962 when they won the State championship. Ron graduated in the class of 1962, from Orangeburg High where he was president of the senior class and voted friendliest in his senior class. He was described by classmates as outgoing and always smiling. He received a 4-year scholarship to play basketball to Erskine College where his nickname was "J-Bird". After graduation from Erskine, Ron worked in Human Relations. He retired after 25 years as personnel director at the Coastal Center in Ladson, SC. Some of his current passions were music, history trivia, and Clemson football. He was an avid bridge player and enjoyed reading, hunting, fishing, and attending Clemson football games. He and his wife volunteered their time in music ministry playing their guitars and singing at various churches as well as being leaders in Via de Cristo retreats on a state-wide level. They also volunteered for Meals and Wheels. He was a member of Kiwanis Club when he lived in Orangeburg. At St. Luke's Lutheran Church he was on the Praise Team where he was a member. Survivors include: his beloved wife, Jani (Roush) Williams, one sister Caroline Bridgers (Sandy) of Savannah, GA; one son, Ronnie Williams of Mt. Pleasant; two grandsons, Christopher Andrew Williams of Mt. Pleasant, and Blake Alexander Richardson (Sarah) of Weaverville, NC; nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by one brother, Louis Wayne Williams. Memorial service celebrating Ron's life will be August 9, 2019, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Summerville, SC. Visitation is at the church at 10 a.m. with the service at 11 a.m. After the service, there will be a reception in Fellowship Hall at the church. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the
