Jack Lawson Obituary

Jack W. Lawson

AGE: 81 • Middletown

Jack W. Lawson, age 81 of Middletown, DE, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 23, 2014 with his family at his side.

Born on April 14, 1933 in Galax, VA, Jack was the son of the late Charlie and Elizabeth (Porterfield) Lawson.

In the early 1950's, Jack moved to Delaware where he met and married Mary Ann West. Jack worked as an HVAC technician and eventually went into business for himself, founding Jack W. Lawson Inc.

In his free time, Jack enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening and especially cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan and was known as a great story teller.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 60 years, Mary Ann Lawson; his children, Charles T. Lawson (Mary), Jack L. Lawson; and Christine Lawson (Rob Blackwell); his grandchildren, Mark, Stacey, Josh (Heather), Kimberly and Christopher; his great-grandchildren, Lacey, Haley and Wesley; and his siblings, James Lawson (Betty) and Gladys Essex (Ralph).

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his son, Danny Lawson; and several brothers and sisters.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 from 5:00 - 7:00pm at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek. An additional viewing will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 from 9:30 - 10:30am, followed by a funeral service at 10:30. Interment will follow at St. James Episcopal Church and Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 100 W. 10th Street, #1103, Wilmington, DE 19801, or to Autism Delaware, 924 Old Harmony Road, Suite 201, Newark, DE 19713.
