Jack Griffing Obituary

Jack Griffing N. Charleston - Jack R. Griffing of N. Charleston, SC passed away on June 6, 2018. He was born January 5, 1946 in Bremen, IN, a son of William James (deceased) and Anna Belle Griffing. He graduated from Greenfield High School, Greenfield, IN, in 1964. He joined the Navy in 1967-1972 where he served on the USS Daniel Boone. In 1972 he met and married his wife, Patsy A. (Carver) Griffing. They were married nearly 46 years. He graduated in 1975 from The Citadel as 1st Honor Graduate, receiving his Bachelor's Degree in secondary education and a master's degree in guidance. He worked in Charleston Co. and Dorchester Co. districts for 24 years. He was a member of Seacoast Church, Summerville. He enjoyed servicing in his church and at Summerville Estates. He enjoyed playing his guitar, working in the yard, fixing things, traveling, playing games, cards, and solving puzzles. During his final days in the hospital/ hospice, he was always ministering-hoping to win just one more soul for Jesus, be they visitors, other patients, or the medical staff and attendants. Jack is survived by his wife, Patricia A. (Carver) Griffing, brother: Bill Griffing (Rosemary), sisters: Bev Gardner (Bob), Jean Madden, brothers-in-law Rudy Carver (Ginger) and Doug Carver (Clara), several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Seacoast Church Summerville Monday June 11, 2018 at 4 pm, the family will receive friends from 3 to 4 at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Seacoast Church Summerville, 301 E. 5th N. St., Summerville, SC 29483, or Hospice of Charleston, 676 Wando Park Blvd., Mt. Pleasant, SC, 29464. Patsy:
It was my privilege to work with Jack when he was a counselor at Middleton High School. Not only was he good with kids, but he set the standard for quality in everything that he did.
