Jack Flynt Obituary

Jack C. Flynt ADAMS RUN, SC - Entered into eternal rest on the afternoon of April 26, 2010, Jack C. Flynt. Residence, Adams Run, SC. The relatives and friends of Mr. Jack Creech Flynt are invited to attend the funeral services at the Graveside in Live Oak Memorial Gardens, Monday, May 3, 2010, at two o'clock. Jack was born August 30, 1928, in Metter, GA, the son of Grady Augustus Flynt and Corine Creech Flynt. Sergeant First Class Flynt was retired Army Medic and a former member of the 82 Airborne Division. Jack had many talents: Horse Trainer, Boxer, Football Player, Avid Fisherman, and Master of the grill. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and Elks Clubs. He was a member of the Pivot and Folly Beach Shag Clubs and loved to go shagging with his beloved friend Betty Zimmerman. Betty Zimmerman is sister to his life-long friends Harry and Betty Snell. Jack was a lover of life, people, animals, children, and dancing. He danced up to the end. He is survived by two daughters: Jacqueline Ann Flynt and Connie Flynt Green; two sons: Terry Jack Flynt and Harry Keith Flynt; Brother-in-Law; Paul Cormier: two grandchildren; Levi Craig Green and Christina Faye Flynt; one great-grandson; Brayden Robert Cruppenink; and many nieces and nephews. Jack is predeceased by his former wife: Hilmer Ann Messervy; a daughter: Debra Olivia Flynt; a sister: Frances Cormier and a brother: Grady Elliott Flynt and his wife, Jane. We the family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the staff of the VA Hospital and Odyssey Hospice whose love and support helped us through the final days of Jacks' life. I just got the news. Jack was always so good to me. A very giving kind soul. I loved him very much. He will be missed. I am so sorry for your loss and my thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I will never forget Dad asking me to call him Dad! It was one of the most touching times of my life! He made me feel like family. I know he is so proud of you Jackie and blessed you walked with him! God Bless

Today, at 2pm, is my father's funeral. I'm so proud of him. He wasn't perfect and there were many difficulties at times. But, he continued to grow as a person, to dig deep and to find the Love within himself and to express it. He showed his Love to his family and friends, to babies and animals. Daddy & I both had to dig deep as Alzheimers advanced and dementia took hold. As he must've done as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne, he faced it with strength, determination, and courage. He suffered many indignities with dignity. No one wants to ever be in the situation my father was in. Not one of us. Yet, when in his lucid moments, which came and went right up to the end, he was always joyful, always grateful. He would break out into his favorite song, "You are my Sunshine" and often, very often, break out into some dance moves and shimmy across the floor, shrugging his shoulders & smiling. I always joined him in both. We would smile at each other and sing & dance. Being a caregiver has been the challenge of my lifetime. I promised myself that I would walk this walk with my father and see him through to the other side. With the support and Love of many, and especially the grace and strength of my father, we were able to do it. To complete the walk together. Today, the most difficult of days, I hold in my heart that strength and grace, and, even more importantly, Love and gratitude. I hold it for my father & I hold it for each of you. Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou.

I AM SO SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT JACK. I WAS A GOOD FRIEND OF FRANCIS AND PAUL, AND KNEW JACK DURING THAT TIME. HE WAS SUCH A FUN AND NICE PERSON TO BE AROUND.
