Mrs. Fanning, I just learned of Jack's death and wish to extend my deepest sympathy to you and your family. After speaking to the West Ashley Civitan Club in the early eighties, he was instrumental in my becoming the first female member of the club and later when my daughter joined we were the first mother/daughter members. I will always remember his smile, great sense of humor and kindness to all he met. May God bless you and your family.

Dona, our prayers are w/you and your family, for the loss of a given friend that Jack was to all. The day I met you and Jack as I will never forget the acceptance into West Ashley Civitan. Jacks motivation to give and do until he could no more. Jack spoke Civitan to all as he did with my daughter Meagan. Now they are together in Heavan eating chicken wings and eating mints, starting their own Civitan Club, I can't wait to join them.

My life was made much better by the fact that I was allowed to know Jack for almost twenty-five years. We all will miss him greatly. His work in this world was wonderful proof of his love for God and others. Our sadness at his leaving is surpassed by the knowledge that his pain is over and his place in heaven is assured. I pray God's blessings on Dona, the children and other family members, and upon his many friends and to Jack I say thank you for a wonderful exemplary life filled with faith, love, honor and commitment.

Dear Donna Lea and Family,
We all were saddened to hear of Jack's death, but we do not grieve as those who have no hope. I trust and believe that God will one day give us back our loved ones. Ours is the only faith to proclaim that gospel loud and clear. I pray God's blessings upon you and all those whom Jack loved. He was an ambassador for Civitan and will be truly missed. I suppose all of us who remain should be challenged to pick up the mantle and work harder in Jack's memory. Affectionately,
Scott Brown

Dear Dona, Jack's homecoming is a bittersweet reminder of how short and precious our days on earth are, but also a wonderful reminder of our new home that Jesus has prepared for us and our eternal presence with the Father. Jack will be missed but we will see him again when we have the final homecoming in Heaven. I have fond memories of Jack and our times together. I know he was so excited about being the SC District Gov. He had a great passion for the work of Civitan and his commitment will serve as a benchmark for us all. God bless you and the family during this time and call on us anytime if we can minister to you. God Bless!!!

I would like to express my deepest sympathies to Dona Lea and the family. I have known Jack through Civitans for many years, and the thing that I will remember most was how involved he was in life. Throughout Civitans nobody can question Jack's love for Civitan and the lives he touched through his energetic and dedicated service, or his love for fruitcake! I will miss his enthusiasm and zest to "do the work of the world and reach out in service to others".
