Jack Dunfee Obituary

DUNFEE, Jack Jack Dunfee, born July 9, 1934, in South Bend, Indiana; died March 10, 2009 in Santa Fe, NM. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack C. Dunfee Sr., and Rosella Mae Barkley Dunfee. Married Stephany Ann Miller on August 4, 1956, in fort Wayne, IN. He graduated from Norwalk High School, CT, 1952, and received an AB degree from Indiana University in 1956. Jack was a Pilot in U.S. Air Force for three years, then returned to Indiana University to achieve a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree, Law Journal and Order of Coif. He practiced law for twenty-three years as partner in Barnes and Thornburg, South Bend, IN. Before coming to Santa Fe in 2006, he enjoyed retirement on Kiawah Island, SC. Jack has a ready smile and sense of humor. Among his many interest were environmental issues, outdoor activities, military history, and music. Survivors include his wife; brother, Dr. Thomas P. Dunfee and wife Gretchen of Ceder, MI, and nieces Jennifer, Julie, and Alison, sister; Michelle M. Dunfee, of Lakewood, CO; brother Michael A. Dunfee of Guadalajara, Mexico; sister-in-law, Nancy Whitson and husband Pete of Lynnwood, WA, and nephews Robert S. Whitson and wife Jakie, and Timothy M. Grant all of Seattle, WA; aunt, Mary Jane Richardson, of South Bend, IN, and cousin Mary Ann Manderfield and husband Walter. At his behest, there will be no memorial service.
