Jack Delk Obituary

Jack Anderson Delk GOOSE CREEK - Jack Anderson Delk, 89, formerly of Weeks Avenue in Goose Creek, SC, died Saturday, January 17, 2015 in North Charleston. His funeral service will be held Saturday, January 24, 2015 in the J. HENRY STUHR INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road at 1:00 p.m. Entombment with military honors, Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Saturday from one hour prior to the service. Jack was born July 11, 1925 in Olar, SC, son of the late Edward Ellis Delk and the late Annie Brant Delk. He was a Marine Corps veteran of WWII, retired from insurance sales, was a former employee of Pinkerton Security and worked for Delk Plumbing for 15 years until the age of 79. He was a member of Deer Park Baptist Church, where he was a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and a board member. He is survived by two daughters, Brenda Delk Cooke and her husband Robert of Raleigh, NC and Judy Delk Hunt and her husband John R. of Mt. Pleasant, SC; son, Terry Wayne Delk and his wife Karen S. of Summerville, SC; six grandchildren: Daniel Delk, Dustin Delk, Jenny Hunt Brown, Jeremy Hunt, Joyanna Hunt, Lindsay Osterhoudt; nine great-grandchildren: Dustin, Dystani, Daniel, Jr. and Taylor Delk, Chloe Brown, Chandler, Brighton, Maverick and Jamison Osterhoudt; brother, James C. Delk and his wife Faye of Beech Island, SC. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Strock Delk; sisters, Pauline Kinard and Marie Johnson; brothers, Marvin Delk and E.B. Delk. My Grand Dad. I called him that . I remember all of those Sundays we went to Alex's for Brunch. Every Christmas he would sit in that same ole chair smiling. Jack was a very great man, and i believe anyone that met him would to. He would give his last dollar for someone else that needed it the most. I love you Grand-Dad

I am very sorry for your family's loss. Mr. Delk was a fine gentleman. He was always very nice to me and I enjoyed my relationship with both he and his wife who used to be my vacation Bible school teacher. Kathy and I will keep you all in our prayers.
