Jack Cusher Obituary

Jack Cusher DANIEL ISLAND - Jack Cusher, 89, of Daniel Island, SC, widower of Edna Cusher died Wednesday, June 1, 2011. Mr. Cusher was born November 23, 1921 in Cincinnati, Ohio, a son of the late Joseph Cusher and Emma Oberle Cusher. He spent his childhood in Cincinnati, Ohio where he met and married his beautiful wife of 67 years at a young age. He went to serve in the United States Navy during WWII as a naval aviator. Once he returned home he attended the University of Cincinnati and earned his degree in mathematics. Mr. Cusher taught chemistry, worked for his uncle Charlie and finally worked until retirement for USG (U.S. Gypsum). He was greatly loved and well known for his sometimes dry sense of humor. Known affectionately by many as Gramps. He was truly a wonderful man, friendly, and loved to tell stories of when he was young. He and his wife Edna were members of Stella Maris Catholic Church where they could be seen every Sunday at 9:30 mass sitting in the same pew with their friends. He will be missed very much. He was preceded in death by his wife Edna; two sons James M. Cusher and Jeffrey D. Cusher; and a daughter Marcia Wolf. Survivors include a grand daughter Stephanie Cusher Davey and her husband Jason of Mt. Pleasant; a grandson Elliot David Cusher of Summerville; a daughter in law Fran Cusher Stevens of Cincinnati, OH and three great grandsons Noah, Owen, and Sean. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 Noon, Friday June 3rd, 2011 at Stella Maris Catholic Church, 1204 Middle Street, Sullivan's Island, SC 29482.
